About YUser
A directory built because the "best AI tools" lists stopped being useful
YUser started as a shared spreadsheet between a few people who kept sending each other the same question: "have you actually used this one, or are you just repeating the landing page?" Most roundup articles online are written from press releases and affiliate incentives, not from hands-on use. That gets confusing fast when there are dozens of new AI tools launching every month, most claiming to do the same thing slightly better than the last one.
What we actually do
Before a tool gets listed, someone on our side uses it for a real task — not the tool's own demo prompt. We note what it's genuinely good at, where it struggles, and who it's a bad fit for, because a tool that's wrong for your use case isn't a bad tool, it's just miscategorized by the marketing.
We keep listings updated when tools change their pricing or capabilities materially, and we remove tools that get shut down or stop being maintained rather than leaving dead listings up for the traffic.
How we make money
This site carries display advertising and some affiliate links to the tools we list. Neither influences which tools we include or what we say about them — a tool with no affiliate program that we genuinely rate gets the same treatment as one that pays a commission. Where a link is an affiliate link, it's disclosed on that page. Full detail is in our affiliate disclaimer.
